Update on the restoration of our greens following this winter’s fungal diseases
As you may have noticed, our greens were significantly affected this winter by an outbreak of winter fusarium, within the framework of our zero-phyto management approach.
We would like to reassure you that our teams have been fully proactive: from the very first signs, actions were implemented, and we would like to update you today on their progress.
As there are currently no truly effective and authorised solutions in the Brussels Region to combat winter fusarium, our efforts have focused on limiting its spread and severity.
The most appropriate approach at present is based on the principle of flora inversion, which involves gradually changing the composition of the grass species in place. As soon as temperatures allowed, we therefore carried out overseeding operations to help recolonise the affected areas.
These seeds have germinated well but still require time to become fully dense. The milder weather conditions expected in the coming days will play a key role in supporting their development.
Seeding lines continue to densify and the germination of new grass species.
To accelerate the recovery of a dense and high-quality turf surface, additional maintenance actions have been carried out today. We expect visible improvement within approximately two weeks.
At the same time, we continue to explore ways to minimise this type of issue in the future and will not hesitate to undertake the necessary works. We closely follow scientific developments and test new methodologies on our greens whenever possible.
Today, we can assure you that our greenkeepers and consultant are implementing all authorised methods, in line with current regulations, to restore our greens as quickly as possible.
